Manulife Financial Corporation Securities Class Actions

Overview

Update: Please be advised that we are currently completing the claim processing and review phase of the administration and are preparing to send out deficiency letters to certain claimants asking for additional information. These letters are scheduled to be mailed by the end of July. Please note that if you do not initially receive a letter it does not mean that you are approved to receive payment, only that your claim is not deficient and we do not require any additional information at this time.

All claimants who will not be receiving a payment will receive a rejection letter after the deficiency letter response review process is complete. Please note that due to the high volume and value of claims received it is anticipated that the pro-rata recovery will be low. Distribution for eligible claims is scheduled to take place by end of year.

A settlement has been reached in the Manulife Financial Corporation securities class actions that allege Manulife Financial Corporation ("MFC") misrepresented the adequacy of their risk management practices and failed to disclose the extent of the Company’s exposure to equity market and interest rate risks.

MFC has agreed to pay C$69,000,000. The settlement is a compromise of disputed claims and is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by MFC.

The settlement has been approved by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Québec Superior Court (the "Courts"). The Courts have appointed Crawford & Company and Garden City Group, LLC as the Administrators of the settlement. To be eligible for compensation pursuant to the settlement, class members must have submitted a completed Claim Form to the below address, postmarked no later than October 9, 2017 (the "Claims Bar Deadline"):

Manulife Financial Corporation Securities Class Actions c/o Garden City Group, LLC Suite 3-505, 133 Weber St N Waterloo, ON N2J 3G9 Canada

If you did not file a claim by the Claims Bar Deadline, you may not be able to claim a portion of the settlement and your claim may be extinguished.

Please be sure to read the Notice of Settlement Approval and the Settlement Agreement to fully understand your rights.
